A couple of days ago a visitor from the other side of the world requested freckle tattoo. Yes, freckles! I have cosmetically tattooed many freckles, but now more than ever it’s jumped from being a mildly different speciality to totally IN.  I have to say, they look very cute and fresh on my 20something client. They’ll be soft and just a light dapple in a few days.  I’m hoping work won’t take priority, and we’ll get an update.  As for beauty mark tattoo, always popular, and varying ideas on eyeliner tattoo makeup, my clients are forever imaginative but carefully exploratory.  Cosmetic tattoo or semi-permanent makeup is just the best for professionals and busy people.  I thought one day soon, my own love for lipstick may dissolve as I refreshed full lip tattoo on myself days before Christmas.  Now healed, it looks pretty, and I’ve had zero concern for my lips whilst hugging and dining and snacking.  The magic of tattoo makeup!

It’s just past midnight. Wishing you a superb New Year!

In today’s world there are many things you want or need to do before the sun comes up.

Unfortunately there is some pressure to look good most of the time, if not all the time.  Very fortunately there is this wonderful thing called semi-permanent makeup or cosmetic tattoo.  Actually it’s also referred to as 3D, feathering, hairstrokes, microblading, eyebrow embroidery and micro-pigmentation all meaning pigment is implanted in the upper dermis layer of the skin.

After the initial treatment, the layer on the surface eases itself off during the healing procedure, with a little help from aftercare instructions.  After a week or so,  the area feels smooth and the colour implanted is seen softer and lighter as if looking through a veil.  It’s exciting to see this, and great to realize you have beautiful, symmetrical brows that don’t wash off and in fact, last for months at a time.

Cosmetic tattoo does fade, and particles as with all foreign bodies eventually disintegrate, as healing by the immune cells takes place.

UV rays do a fine job of bleaching the makeup tattoo, behaving like a laser over time.  Sun and chemicals can damage so take care while using glycolics, Retin A, and various anti-aging products.  SPF lip balm or screen is handy for lips and great for brows too.  They come water-proofed as well!

Lips tend to fade faster than some other cosmetic tattoo as they are pale and moist a lot of the time with eating and drinking etc.  Lighter colours in brows can fade quicker than darker shades but as you now have balanced brows, a brow powder can look good until your next refresh.

Eyeliner tattoo wears well as black is so popular although you can always be more flamboyant.  Ask me about this!

So semi-permanent makeup is like any other beauty procedure and may require refreshing every year or so, keeping up with skin and hair changes.

A small price to be cosmetically freer in today’s world.

Every skin is different but over time the body breaks down foreign bodies whenever possible to eliminate what wasn’t there naturally.

I feel its a good time to mention makeup sensitivity as it is so common nowadays. Cosmetic Tattoo is ideal for those who have so much difficulty looking the way they’d like, because of makeup irritation. On usual occasions semi-permanent makeup is a dream come true for these clients, as traditional makeup is tossed aside and given up on. The new found beauty is utterly cherished and mirrors get a more than usual ‘hello :)’.

I had a young lady with a very pale complexion, extra-ordinarily beautiful eyes and fine, natural platinum blond hair, come visit for consultation recently.

This case when acute sensitivities are suspected and itemised, a patch test is performed behind the ear. Very rarely there may be an allergy to a component in the numbing cream and any experienced cosmetic makeup artist will be mindful of this. Absolute cleanliness and one-use only apparatus is crucial of course, as with all other micro-pigmentation procedures.  The needle assembly is dispersed of in a sharps container after each session. The client also needs to be super careful and responsible as what goes on the skin for the first week after her patch test. Finally an after-care sheet is given, and a follow up appointment for the true procedure is arranged a few days later.

In the case of the young lady above, a different procedure was used, with little numbing. We did it! Not only was the session almost painless but the pigment was beautifully gulped up without a hitch. The eye-liner healed quickly without fuss, having a good start,  and was ready for a second ‘blanketing’ or wash of colour a few weeks later. I can say, as a semi-permanent makeup artist, that these clients are looking at themselves in a new light, probably for the first time in their lives. Sometimes they have not put a brush or pencil to their faces in many years due to difficult skin reactions. As with all procedures, we start with a conservative design – ideally something you would be glad to see at any time of the day or night. It is easy to add colour if you are in raptures and want more.  You, my client depend on my skill and experience for the final results, your communication is my first consideration.  Your work might require an extra session or two. Slowly, little by little is sometimes the key.

Phone for a consultation if you are unsure. In the case of the above very attractive lady, the eye-liner tattoo makeup was quickly followed by eye-brow makeup tattoo. One of my clients mentioned in her gratefully received testimonial”….don’t procrastinate!” Tattoo makeup consultations are always free and easy to arrange.

Have a happy June month, and mention ‘SPECIALS FOR JUNE’ for considerable discounts!
