With Gentle Cosmetic Tattoo being well underway for quite a few years, we are always advising regarding cosmetic tattoo and it’s after-care.

Micro-blading, micro-feathering, feathering and semi-permanent makeup, call it what you will is still implanting cosmetic tattoo pigments superficially (between the dermal and epidermal layer) into the skin. These are implemented with a small tool into which a needle assembly is inserted, or a small machines are used, depending on the procedure required.

Considering the structure of your skin, you may be advised to ‘dry-heal’ your tattoo in which case you will keep the tattooed area as free from ointments or water as possible. Any makeup or lotions apart from those suggested at the time of your session should be left until after the areas have healed. This would usually be one to two weeks. If after-care cream is suggested. Please use sparingly, night and morning, and during the day for comfort.

Your skin will be settled and well ready to receive your 2nd procedure, 2 to 8 weeks after the first.

Please do not try to hurry the peeling process. Sometimes people cannot help but pick or rub the area. I understand, however it is worth waiting for your cosmetic tattoo to gently exfoliate on its own.  At the sign of any infection, contact your pharmacist or cosmetic tattooist.

If your semi-permanent makeup is unbearably itchy, a sign it is healing nicely, a little coconut oil should suffice. Be aware that workouts, swimming, sauna, tanning beds or sun, does not help your skin retain your new tattoo makeup. I often suggest an SPF balm, especially for your beautiful new brows.

Most salons will advise you to wait for their skin treatments, knowing you have had, or are preparing to see a cosmetic tattooist.

Gentle Cosmetic Tattoo uses iron oxide free pigments and always the very latest pigments to suit your skin type.

Consultations are always generous and free.

Cheers,

Janey

We’re are off to the freezing cold UK for 2 weeks, and will be back on 11th February.  Singapore on the way is always a delight, I just love Singapore, the people, the airport, everything!

Just a quick word though, as I will be thoroughly looking forward to seeing you when we get back.  Many of you are coming in for corrective work from other lands and other clinics around.  It is disturbing, and in a few cases I have asked that you  have some good laser done so I may start afresh.  On a new canvas so to speak.  If you want advice on where to go for this wonderful work, do let me know.

Semi-permanent makeup, or makeup tattoo is a highly specialised art so be aware that a proficient operator needs to have at least 2,000 hours or 5yrs experience just to start with.  One can learn the theory of most subjects in a short time but it takes thousands of hours to understand.  Look at how long an operator has been dedicated in his/her art of cosmetic tattoo and in the field specialised within that.

One should feel excited and confident to have cosmetic tattoo done.  Ask to see further work available so you may feel sure.  Make sure your consultation at the beginning of any session, answers your questions in a way you understand. Sometimes clients do have enormous expectations, especially when previous work elsewhere has not given good results through lack of experience or other.  Unfortunately your cosmetic tattooist may have a load dropped on her in a sense, and is quite courageous and caring to carry on steadily to correct the inadequate work you may be angry about.  My best clients are the ones, who can miraculously drop their past disappointment at the door and let me get down to what I know well.

I may be able to camouflage, redesign and release colour from previous work.  It can take time and several sessions but the reward is lovely work.  Come for a consultation over this.

Refreshers are absolutely essential.  I like to tell my clients to see me “this time next year”.  The very best results of ongoing cosmetic tattoo require attention every year to 18 months.  You would give yourself that attention to others parts of you! Cosmetic tattoo is amazing, when done well.

I’m looking forward to seeing you soon,

have a super-duper warm February.

Design is what takes the time in cosmetic tattoo.  It is such an immaculate business,  and rightly so – after all you and everyone else are looking at your face at least some time every day.  All faces are so unique!  You need not have beauty in the classic sense,  to be wonderfully interesting and gorgeous.  It does help though to have well maintained and well designed features to draw focus in a positive way to help others connect with you.

Your cosmetic tattooist needs to have an excellent eye for what design is just right for you.  At the same time,  your cosmetic tattooist needs to have empathy in how you want to be seen to the world.  One’s self esteem is easily shaken,  so good design,  shape and colour is everything.  Having said that,  it is also handy that you have good expectations but not unreasonable expectations.  That’s difficult sometimes,  but it can be distracting for you both,  and may hinder ‘the flow’,  so to speak.  Be clear in what you think you want, and if you don’t have a clue,  your cosmetic tattooist should be well able to demonstrate her skill and experience to you.

All of the above apply to semi-permanent tattooed eyes,  and lips as well (smile).

Jess does amazing mink eyelashes, expertly applied – and she’s a lovely lady.

Have a happy,  healthy November,  and we’ll see you soon!

cheers,

Janey

Remember, you most likely see your permanent cosmetic artist with uneven, shapeless or sparse brows. So ask your artist to brush your new brow shape on first and be wary if she/he does not spend adequate time in doing this. Do make sure you ask the questions you want to ask and do not feel in the slightest way uncomfortable over this. Ask what the hair-stroke tattoo looks like, if that is what you might be after. Ask your artist to do one or two strokes initially for you to see.  For certain, when you see how these look and feel, your confidence goes up several notches.  If you have a cosmetic tattoo artist who loves what she/he does, this will not be an issue.

Be aware that brows are cosmetically tattooed, for your convenience, and should be as symmetrical as reasonably possible.  It is usual to have two very different sides to the face and to have brows cosmetically tattooed as they naturally sit on the face, could be devastating.
