Before I go on – Happy New Year everyone! 2012 has already shown promise of great changes and forging ahead in positive ways.

December is usually an interesting time. There’s holidays,  family presents and gatherings to organise for Christmas and a host of other things that are important to you personally and to your family and friends. Here’s truly a time where there  is hardly enough space to look after ourselves. Still with all of this, December is often the last dash for women to have important other things,  like cosmetic tattoo procedures done. It’s as if a lot of the year many have been pondering over what to have enhanced with micro-dermabrasion and it’s often November and December it’s ” now or never”.

One of the reasons that women hesitate deciding about cosmetic make-up is that they think all the eyebrow hair is waxed away before the procedure. This is not true and most cosmetic tattoo artists are pleased to use all available brow to design the new eyebrows. Occasionally I have had my clients have all brow hair waxed off the following week. The reason they tell me is because they love the new design so much, that is all they need. Personally I feel we could keep what we have,  intact although in many cases there is no, or little natural hair to work with. Here lies just one of the beauty’s of semi-permanent make-up. When women   lose eyebrow hair early in their adult life, the perfect answer is micro-pigmentation to replace eyebrow strokes. This is done within a fabulous powdered,  feathered or 3 dimensional look.

 Another reason ladies are justifiably nervous about their brows (for example) is because they have seen incorrect shapes cosmetically tattooed. We at Gentle Cosmetic Tattoo see that perfect eyebrows are very much in the eyes of the beholder, meaning in this case, you the client.

 Another fear of the semi-permanent tattoo procedure  is, “will it all hurt”. We go out of our way to make sure you’re comfort is a prime concern. Now, I’m not going to say it just feels like a tickle initially. Everyone’s pain threshold varies, but when you know what you want and expect gorgeous brows, eyes and lips, somehow you settle in and wait till our cosmetic tattoo numbing gels and cremes make your makeup tattoo procedure comfortable. Then you wait just a few more days and remember why you made the effort.

When making up is all too much..

It’s fabulous when your clients are business-women, students and people who know why they have come in to  have semi-permanent make-up. It’s really special though when you’re client is a hard working young woman, getting a career together and is also raising toddler at the same time. My client a few weeks ago, phoned me estatic with the idea of having full cosmetically tattooed eyeliner done to save her precious time (something she has precious little of) and the logical plan of having makeup that won’t sweat off.  This was an especially good plan as she is in the fitness industry.

A lot of women come my way who are trainers, or who spend a fair amount of time at the gym. If you do like to look astonishing good (I know a few who do!) after a workout, do consider cosmetically tattooed eyebrows, and eyeliner in particular. These girls, and men are absolutely dripping afterwards and often like to join each other for a catch up immediately after training. It works well with cyclists and in fact any competitors of any sport. Imagine if your day to day work involves being submerged in water a lot of the time  for example, what a bonus makeup tattoo is. Teachers also love tattooed makeup – their students are often thoughtful as to why their teacher looks the same at the end of the day. Of course, I like this most - when they tell me that their friends, colleagues or students ask them later why the make-up is still on.

Back to the fitness freak, come amazing mum. The eyes were sensitive, but we have the latest in numbing creams and gels, plus knowing why for sure, she was here and that it was something on the ‘want’  list for a long time  made the first and and next session very OK. After the cold pack was applied and a rest time of five or ten minutes, my client was ready to go. Some swelling was present afterwards I was told, which subsided a few hours later. A text then came to say she was thrilled and ready for more.

To clarify this. In most situations there is very little or no swell. There are always exceptions. Lips do swell, and subside usually the next day.  Most girls make the most of the bee-stung look. If swelling is uncomfortable however, a cool pack  is most often the answer, and certainly, if  in doubt after browsing the cosmetic tattoo after-care sheet, do not hesitate to contact Janey.

We know it suits many people to start their cosmetic tattoo healing process over the weekend.

You know, by day three, a lot of the healing is completed.

Don’t hesitate to book Friday after work, or Saturday or Sunday if  you can’t wait to get started. Otherwise we are open as normal during the week to accomodate you.

Cosmetic tattoo is also known as micro-pigmentation, makeup tattoo, semi-permanent makeup (in Australia), permanent make-up (overseas), tattoo make-up, and eyebrow embroidery!

[Corrective Work

Commonly, a new client phones us to say that eyebrows were applied too dark or badly shaped. Other problems include colour change or quick fading. We enjoy working with natural vegetable pigments, so that we don’t have those problems. This reminds me to say, yet again -  know your semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo artist. Word of mouth and experience amounts to a lot. When was the first client your professional had? A couple of months ago or several years ago? Good cosmetic tattooing takes years to understand. How many clients does your professional work with in a day? Each client takes at least two hours and often a lot more time; from consultation to lifting the cold pack off the cosmetically tattooed areas.  Time is something we should have plenty of.  Why? Your artist needs to have a clear understanding of any medical or other problems you may have.  As well, every stroke, and every smudge of colour needs to be perfect, to the cosmetic tattoo artist, and you, the client. You must feel that the very best work possible has been achieved, knowing that after the shedding of the superficial pigment, semi-permanent colour will have started give the shaping, highlighting and definition your features appear to crave. 

So how do you best feel comfortable with your procedure? Your professional will have listened, advised, and drawn or applied with pigment the required look.  At Gentle Cosmetic Tattoo, you  may follow the work with a mirror if you wish. We start conservatively, shaping, colouring and forming, until all is perfect.

Having said all of the above, with time and care, corrective work also gives stunningly good results. Always check that you admire the style of your cosmetic tattoo artist’s work.  Ask all the questions that concern you, and don’t be afraid you might appear ‘fussy’.  Lastly, make sure you are 100% happy with the final designs before and/or during the procedure. This ensures a happy completion and the confidence that often gives nature a helping hand in healing!

Right now, I feel I’d like to write a book on the interesting people - no, fasinating people I meet in this business. When people feel comfortable with each other, they exchange ideas, thoughts, experiences and stories. I’m privileged to be able to say that cosmetic tattoo, together with my healing work brings about a wealth of the above. Every person has a story, and every person is special, without a doubt. Scars & Blemishes

hello everyone.

A confidence reducing  problem that can affect all ages seems to be scars of all types. This need not be so of course,  as life brings with it all sorts of unforeseen circumstances and misadventures that can result in marks, scars, and skin colour changes to the face, head,  neck and body.  They can show that a person has had an interesting life!  However,  it is  encouraging to know that scar camouflague with tattoo makeup may indeed bring back a care-free feeling  to those  individuals who require the procedure.

 Eyebrow scars are so common, and the brow area  is vunerable and where the skin easily broken. Hair strokes are placed strategically  into  the missing areas, although care is taken as to assess the individual’s skin condition and age of the scarring  before skin coloured camouflague is used.

Semi-permanent camouflague makeup certainly does have it’s place where skin colour is the answer and especially awkward or obvious areas can be ’worked’ into eye-shadowing and eyeline colouring as well.  Custom blended natural vegetable pigments gently eases away acne,  sun spots and other marks.  Micro-pigmentation  ’after-care’  is essential as always.

Recently I went back  for a micro-dermabrasion and gently reminded the professional again that I had a couple of  sun spots semi- permanently tattooed. She assured me the procedure would not damage ‘my work’.  My skin benefited greatly from her treatment, and sure enough, the dark shadows were as good as newly hidden after the repeated once a month sessions. Therefore cosmetic tattoo camouflague  lasts as well as any other cosmetic tattoo procedures. Gladly I’ll pass on the details of this  talented lady. Getting back to blemishes, and scaring -  one need not worry about applying and reapplying makeup to difficult  areas that can sometimes be embarrassing, or at least, disturbing, in fact it they may well be forgotten about after a cosmetic tattoo procedure.

Brows, Your new Face of the Future…

Hello, and Happy New Year everyone!

It’s been busier than usual. Whether that is a consequence of the vast rains we have had in this part of the country, I’m not sure. People have been perhaps spending more time thinking and organizing things for themselves for this year in the quiet of indoors,  rather than racing around outside in their spare time.

During this unusual whether, I have had many various requests lately for makeup tattooing.

 One thing that seems to be on everyone’s minds is ”will you tattoo my eyebrows so they really suit me!”  This anxiety is a number one reason why women, I feel, hesitate to have semi-permanent makeup, and rightly so. How many times have we seen eyebrows that are too highly arched, where the artist seemed to have overused his/her creative licence?  As well, colour and flow of the brow is essential. It’s rare to have two brows the same as the bone structure and formation of our face is different on each side of the nose. I have clients who appreciate this and like the way one of their eyebrows’ is naturally slightly arched in a cheeky questioned manner, or a little more pronounced in some way. Often these clients ask me to “add that in” for the overall finished look.  They love the individuality of their own face. Others are wanting their eyebrows absolutely symmetrical – perfect in every way. That is the way they feel happy to face the world each day.

We know that all our clients appreciate the close working together to achieve the desired look. Above all, I believe, women want a natural, lovely brow that essentially suits them. One that can be altered in colour and shape if necessary, as their makeup tattoo slowly fades over time. Perhaps this is not an easily understood point?  The largest organ of the body, our skin, changes remarkably of the years. Weather factors, medication, makeups including skin products, personal habits, emotional issues,  and environment, affect our skin enormously. It is because of these issues, cosmetic tattoo also fades.

This is a great opportunity! Over the years I have worked and changed “my ladies’ ” permanent makeup to suit. Things never stay the same, and need not either.
